This article describes the procedures and activities for configuring and managing Price Books in Lightspeed.
Price Books enable you to offer special pricing to some or all of your clients. You can target the pricing to a specific location, a specific set of clients, or a specific time period. You can also use them to offer wholesale rates, contract rates, or bulk-buying discounts.
Price Books will link directly to client groups, allowing you to offer special pricing to a group of clients and report on sales to that group. Each client can only belong to one group at a time. By default, a new client will belong to the "All Customers" group, which is the default Retail Price outlined on each product. When you add them to a group you've created, they will no longer be a member of "All Customers."
Steps to Implement Price Books in LightSpeed and Integrate with Vital:
- Create distinct groups for your clients.
- Assign the groups to your clients.
- Create a Price Book, aligning to the groups.
- Add or update products in price book
- Update Price Book setup in Vital.
While similar to promotions, the distinct difference is that Price Books integrate with Vital and apply to field transactions. In contrast, promotions are retail-only.
